Privacy Policy

Maryam & Zayn is operated by Elipse Kids. Our platform — available at https://learning.maryamandzayn.com and as an Android app on the Google Play Store — is an educational service designed for children. It covers early learners starting with alphabets, phonics and numbers, through to students in Classes 1–8, following the Pakistani national curriculum.

We collect the following information when you create an account:

• Name — your first name or display name used in the app
• Email address — used for login and account recovery
• Class level / grade — to show age-appropriate lessons
• Password — stored as a secure hash; we never store plain-text passwords

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive only your name and email address from Google to create your account. We never receive your Google password, contacts, or any other Google data. Google Sign-In is the only third-party login we support.

We also collect the following usage data as you learn:

• Lessons completed, quiz answers, XP earned, badges, and streak progress
• Messages you send to the AI Tutor, for the duration of that conversation
• Basic technical information sent by your device with each request, such as app version and operating system version

We do not collect precise location data, phone numbers, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, advertising identifiers, or any biometric information. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.

• To provide and personalise the learning experience
• To track XP, streaks, badges, and leaderboard rankings
• To show optional daily learning reminders. These are scheduled by the app on your own device — we do not operate a push server, and you can turn them off inside the app under Profile → Settings, or in your device settings
• To generate answers in the AI Tutor chat
• To respond to support requests sent to our email
• To improve the platform and fix bugs

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to education.

Maryam & Zayn is intended for children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google's Families Policy.

• Accounts for children under 13 must be created by a parent or guardian. By creating an account for a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and that you consent to the collection described in this policy.
• We collect only the limited information listed in Section 2 — we never ask a child for a phone number, home address, photograph, or any other information beyond what the lessons require.
• We never require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to use the app, and we never make personal information publicly available. Leaderboards show only a display name and XP score.
• We do not show advertising of any kind, and we do not use children's data for profiling or marketing.
• Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's account and all associated data at any time — from the Delete Account page, in the app under Profile → Delete Account, or by emailing maryamandzayn@gmail.com. Parents may also withdraw consent at any time by deleting the account.
• The AI Tutor chat sends the child's message to Google's Gemini AI to generate a reply (see Section 6). Chat messages are not saved to our database — they exist only for the duration of the conversation and are gone when the chat is closed.

You can try Maryam & Zayn without registering by tapping Continue as Guest. Guest mode gives you a limited trial of the lessons and the AI Tutor.

• For a guest we create only an anonymous account ID and store lesson progress and XP against it — no name, no email, no password.
• If you later create a full account, your guest progress is carried over to it and the guest record becomes your account.
• If you never register, the guest data stays linked to that anonymous ID and is never used to identify you.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party, and we never share it for advertising.

We share data with the following service providers only as needed to operate the platform:

• Google (Gemini AI) — powers our AI Tutor, "Ask Maryam". When you send a message in the chat, that message and the earlier messages of the same conversation are sent to Google's Gemini API so a reply can be generated. We do notsend your name, email address, or account ID along with it. Under Google's paid API terms, this content is not used to train Google's models. Please avoid typing personal details such as your full name, phone number, or address into the chat.
• Hostinger — hosts our servers and database, and delivers account emails such as password resets
• Cloudinary — image hosting for lesson assets
• Google Sign-In — only if you choose to log in with your Google account

Learning reminders are scheduled by the app on your own device as local notifications — they are not sent through any third-party push service. We use no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind.

All service providers are contractually required to keep data confidential and use it only for the purpose of providing their service to us.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the safety of a child or the public.

Your account data — name, email, lesson progress and XP — is stored in our own MySQL database on secured servers operated by Hostinger. It is not copied to any analytics or advertising platform.

One exception applies: because the AI Tutor uses Google's Gemini API, the messages you type in the chat are processed on Google's servers, which may be located outside your country. Only the chat text is transferred this way — never your account details.

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently and immediately removed from our database — we do not keep a copy after deletion. Chat messages are never written to our database at all. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics (with no link to any individual) may be retained indefinitely to improve the platform.

We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, passwords stored only as secure hashes, short-lived access tokens, and access controls that limit who can see user data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

If a data breach ever affects your personal information, we will notify affected users by email without undue delay and describe what happened and what you should do.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data (via the Profile page in the app)
• Delete your account and all associated data — from the Delete Account page, or in the app from Profile → Delete Account
• Turn off daily reminders (in the app under Profile → Settings, or in your device settings)
• Withdraw consent at any time — for a child's account, a parent or guardian may do this by deleting the account

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
